Marketing

At Santander, we create products not just for our customers, but with our customers. Over 25 million people choose to bank with us, so we have to convey how our products and services could benefit them, while also taking their feedback on board. That’s the job of our Marketing department.

Our Marketing Graduate Programme involves a number of challenging placements across several teams over a two-year period. One day you could be analysing customers, the next you could be developing product propositions. The rotations will test you like never before, but they’ll also give you the tools you need to make a name for yourself. By learning from your mistakes and embracing new ideas, you’ll be in a position to put your own stamp on Santander and the future of our industry.

Location

Most of the placements are based in Milton Keynes.

What we look for in you

If you want to join us, you’ll need to have, or expect to gain, a 2:1 degree in Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Business or another subject with substantial numerical content. You’ll also need a strong business acumen, sharp analytical skills and the ability to think about problems in unconventional ways. Just as critical are drive and determination, a ‘can-do’ attitude and exceptional communication skills.

Our Marketing division consists of both brand and product marketing teams, both of which you’ll get exposure to over the duration of the scheme.

There’s a variety of teams within Products and Services Marketing which you can be a part of:

  • Banking
  • Mortgages
  • Savings & Investments
  • Personal Loans
  • Product Control & Governance
  • Strategic Development

Our teams focus on:

  • Developing and delivering ideas for ground-breaking products like our new and widely acclaimed Flexible ISA and formula 123 campaign
  • Managing marketing, product and pricing initiatives
  • Analysing the market to maximise our understanding of our customers and competitors
  • Working with key stakeholders to manufacture, manage and maintain marketing strategies
  • Developing and delivering first-class, simple but transparent propositions that differentiate us in the market place
  • Identifying and executing improvements to processes, customer experiences and service quality across our retail banking products

You will also work with our Brand and Communications team who manage and implement marketing campaigns (both above the line and below the line) to support the launch of our innovative products.

As you can see, it's a broad and challenging programme. And with the financial services industry facing unprecedented change and scrutiny, we need outstanding individuals to help us mould both Santander and the future of our industry. If you're excited by that prospect, you could become one of only two Marketing graduates we take on this year.

Developing your skills is as important to us as it is to you. Throughout your career you will receive both formal and on-the-job training, giving you the knowledge and experience you need to realise your full potential.

When you join, you will receive a warm welcome to the UK business and a thorough induction. Your induction will be local initially, and later on we’ll broaden your induction to the wider Santander Group.

All of our graduates participate in a number of core learning experiences. These are designed to develop your interpersonal skills and help prepare you for your first role managing others. Core learning is delivered through a blend of online and face-to-face training in modules covering areas such as an introduction to leadership and management; fundamentals of managing high performance teams; and essential communication and interpersonal skills.

In addition to this, you could be invited to undertake various activities throughout the programme, such as:

  • Introduction to your UK business
  • Introduction to your division
  • Allocation of your own mentor and buddy
  • Meetings with members of the Executive Committee
  • Involvement in cross-divisional project work
  • Graduate-specific events
  • Production and publication of the graduate magazine

In order to help you grow and reach your full potential, we’re committed to giving you all the support you need. Not only will you be working closely with very experienced people from across the business, but you’ll also receive world-class training, both within placements and on specific, tailored training initiatives.

All of our graduate trainees are assessed on their individual performance and behaviours. If you can demonstrate the required level of skills and behaviours, and you have the passion and enthusiasm to succeed, then Santander UK could be perfect for you.
