Overview »

An internship in Santander’s Finance department is an excellent introduction to a career in the Financial Services industry. Finance plays a vital role in our dynamic and progressive business and touches every part of the organisation.

Internships last approximately 10 weeks during which participants are exposed to responsibilities in one area of Finance. You may be involved in the planning, budgeting and forecasting process. You may have the opportunity to be exposed to the ever evolving regulatory environment. There are numerous other skills which you will have the chance to develop and improve. For instance, the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and appropriately is an essential skill in any business. Your ability to prioritise your work and work under pressure to tight deadlines are vital in a business environment. You will have the opportunity to develop these and other skills including the ability to work in a team.

You will be working with Financial professionals with many years’ experience who will provide constructive feedback to help you develop.

Finance is based at our head offices in London and Milton Keynes.

What we look for in you »

To join the programme you will need:

  • To be an undergraduate – either in your second year at university, or third year if you're on a four-year course
  • A minimum of 280 UCAS points or the equivalent, and to be predicted a 2:1 or equivalent in any degree though encourage those with degrees in numerical subjects to apply.

You will also ideally have:

  • Held a position of responsibility at university or school (e.g. Vice-President of a society, Team Captain, Secretary, Treasurer etc.)
  • At least two months' work experience. This could be part-time or voluntary and need not cover a continuous two month period
