The Finance Programme is perfect for anyone who wants to discover the internal workings of a world-leading bank. You'll get the chance to make connections and share ideas with Santander colleagues from all the businesses areas, digging deeply into the complex processes that make the bank function.

The Finance department lies at the heart of Santander business providing a strategic and value-adding function.

As a Finance intern you will see a wide range of finance reports including income and balance sheet projections which will provide answers to key management questions. You will gain an overview of how Santander generates income, understand how product income is derived and gain insight into the competitive market and outside trends.

You will get unparalleled accounting experience, including everything from core financial accounting to complex modeling. We will sharpen your analytical and presentation abilities and we will show you how to manage colleagues and clients in a way that will set an example for others to follow.
During the scheme, a series of personal development modules will be available, enabling you to enhance your commercial awareness as well as your interpersonal skills for the future. All the while, you’ll enjoy regular feedback and real-life work, while building up a detailed knowledge of what we do.

Finance is based at our head offices in London and Milton Keynes.

What we look for in you »

To join the programme you will need:

  • To currently be an undergraduate – either in your second year at university, or third year if yours is a four-year course
  • A minimum of 280 UCAS points or equivalent and to be on course for a 2:1 or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business or another subject with significant financial or accounting content. We also encourage those with degrees in numerical subjects to apply, though we’ll need to see evidence of your business acumen.

You will also ideally have:

  • A minimum of one position of responsibility held at university or school (e.g. Vice-President of a society, Team Captain, Secretary, Treasurer etc.)
  • A minimum of two months' customer-related work experience. This could include face-to-face or telephone contact with the public/customers/clients. It can be part-time or voluntary and need not be over a continuous two month period
