At Santander, we believe that a successful business is a socially responsible business. It’s why we have clearly defined CSR strategies, built around the following themes:

In practice, these themes translate into a series of initiatives, both in the UK and around the world. One example of this is the 'Santander is You' week, involving employees and their friends and families from across the global business in charitable and community activities.

CSR in the UK

Here in the UK, we’re meeting our corporate responsibility by addressing the issues that matter most to our key stakeholders. For instance, we’re committed to improving and expanding access to financial services, providing funds to support charities working in this area.

For our employees, our focus is on ensuring that our workplace is inclusive and that individual differences are genuinely valued.

Within our communities, we provide donations to local charities – in fact, this year we’ll be contributing over £4 million to good causes around the UK.

Finally, we’re committed to reducing the impact of our day-to-day operations on the environment, and we have wide-ranging programmes in place to reduce our energy use, increase our recycling and invest in greener technologies.
